The Georgian American Women's Association (GAWA) was established in 2021, inspired by the resilience of Georgian women throughout history. Our mission was to create a support system for Georgian immigrant women in America by providing cultural preservation programs and advocacy resources. The organization addressed a critical need in the Georgian diaspora and has since expanded its impact.

In its first years, GAWA pioneered specialized programs for Georgian women, initiating the first Georgian language career workshops, cultural entrepreneurship training, and a mentorship network connecting professionals across the diaspora. In 2023, GAWA established its permanent community center in NY, with dedicated spaces for cultural programming and professional development. The organization continues expanding its facilities to serve the growing needs of Georgian-American women nationwide.

With its vital mission to empower Georgian women through cultural preservation, career development programs, legal advocacy, mental health support, educational resources, and community building, while championing immigrant rights, gender equality, and cross-cultural dialogue, GAWA has quickly become a leading voice for Georgian-American women's advancement.

GAWA has rapidly become a vital hub for Georgian women in America, operating as an independent nonprofit while maintaining strong ties to women's organizations in Georgia. We serve hundreds of Georgian-American women annually through our cultural empowerment programs. GAWA stands for preserving Georgian heritage while advancing gender equality and immigrant rights. Our resources focus on the most pressing needs of our community, with cultural education centers in NY, LS, and DR, plus mentorship programs across major U.S. cities. In 2023, GAWA launched its first Diaspora Resource Center, strengthening bonds between generations of Georgian women.
